The narrator

THOUGHTS

“I love to stand and talk on the stage. The feeling of being close enough to touch is electrifying. The people who want to see and hear me are given a very direct and spontaneous experience in the auditorium. They are given an opportunity to see my world with their own eyes and to accompany me in spirit as I climb Mount Everest or have to give up below the summit of Lhotse. I try to turn my inner world outwards and describe the doubts, fears and weaknesses that affect us all when we reach the limits of our abilities as constant companions. They are what I have in common with my audience.”
